U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP)

The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) is a scientific organization that sets public quality standards for medicines, dietary supplements, and food ingredients. Founded in 1820, USP plays a crucial role in protecting public health by ensuring the identity, strength, quality, and purity of products through enforceable standards that are legally recognized in the United States and adopted in over 140 countries worldwide.

USP standards are developed by scientific experts and are based on rigorous evaluation and consensus. These standards are published in the USP–NF (United States Pharmacopeia–National Formulary) and are used by manufacturers, regulatory agencies, and laboratories for product development, quality control, regulatory compliance, and testing.
